sometimes it

breaks

my heart,

this temporary

experience

marked by

numbers,

35, soon to be 36

and i know,

i’m not afraid of

dying, i am

really just

afraid of

not living

while

being alive,

of choosing

the voice of fear

and not love,

for making myself

unwelcome in places

before i even

enter

is this the point?

to see all the ways

we stop ourselves?

and stop,

stopping ourselves?

to stop mask-wearing

and name-calling,

and start really loving?

from the inside out?

i see a rose inside

each of us,

a rose that needs watering,

tending to,

acknowledging,

i see red,

deep blood red,

flowing like a

river –

carrying with it all

that it once

held as stagnant,

just letting it flow

letting it live

letting it release

and be,

and maybe,

just maybe

i taste the

taste of freedom –

the beginning

of something new,

a world in which

i come to see this all as one,

11, 11, 1, 1, 1, 1

and we keep

going

and we keep

returning and

we keep

composting and

redirecting

and re-imagining

and remembering

to not get

caught in the

lies of the

mind

the invisible

rope that pulls

us back –

we are each

a solar flare,

with enough

power to

start a

movement of love

one where we all

know our neighbors

and each others names,

and look each

other in the eye,

one where we

return to

the rose &

river

inside,

and

remember

who we

truly are

it is this simple

it is meant to be

this simple –

burn all the bits

that make it

complicated

shred the

bullshit,

shake your

towels

out

there is a tidal wave of

fresh energy

about to shock
